Becky and Ian’s Wedding – Grazing restaurant in Gundaroo, NSW

I was pretty excited when Becky and Ian first contacted me about photographing their wedding in Canberra and the little town of Gundaroo in NSW.  I always jump at the opportunity to change my scenery and photograph somewhere new.  We set up a skype date to chat about wedding details and logistics and would get side tracked talking about what craft beer we enjoy, living in the States, food, travel and everything inbetween. I was sold, I needed to photograph their wedding!! Once we finally did get around to the wedding details,  Becky and Ian were very laid back, weren’t fussed on keeping the “traditions”, the day was purely about marry their best friend and having a amazing day with their friends and family, many who were flying in from the States. There would be no cake, no bouquet, no first dance, no walking down the aisle, no getting ready separately and no stress. I came off skype thinking, please ,please, please… and was delighted when they booked me for their big day.

October 11th soon rolled around, the sun was shinning and skies were blue.  I met Becky and Ian briefly at their apartment in Kingston, near Canberra, and walked with them to the bus stop where they were meeting their guests. We then took the scenic drive out to the quiet little town of Gundaroo, where there just so happened to be a music festival on. I had my first ever breath test on the way into town. 🙂 The intimate ceremony was held in the memorial hall before walking next door to the wonderful Grazing restaurant for drinks and canapes in the sunshine.  The night was full of amazing food, speeches, dancing and even some fireworks put on by the music festival, but that seemed so fitting for Becky and Ian’s wedding day.
